The sleep category has no shortage of claims. Every brand promises better rest, deeper sleep, and a more refreshed morning. But in a market crowded with messaging, what actually moves the needle for buyers, and ultimately for consumers, is evidence.
This July, South Bay International brings something different to Las Vegas Market, a sleep technology designed to perform at the fabric level, backed by a 30-day study, and built for the way today's consumers shop. Here's what it is, why it matters, and why we think it's going to change the conversation on your showroom floor.
What Is DREAM+™?
DREAM+™ is a sleep technology developed by Bekaert Deslee, winner of the German Innovation Award 2025, and infused directly into mattress fabric and pillow covers. The technology isn't a topper, an insert, or an add-on. It works at the fabric level, meaning the benefit is engineered into the product itself.
DREAM+™ is designed to work with the body's natural sleep processes, with the goal of helping users fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer, and wake up more restored. Importantly, it is not intended to replace sleep medication, but it is a wellness-forward complement to healthy sleep habits, not a pharmaceutical solution. DREAM+™ is a product benefit you can speak to broadly, across consumer segments, without the complexity of medical-adjacent claims.
The Study Behind the Story

What distinguishes DREAM+™ in a crowded wellness category is that it has been put to the test. Bekaert Deslee commissioned a 30-day study conducted by a Portuguese sleep laboratory, using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, the PSQI, one of the most widely used sleep quality measurement tools in research, developed in 1989 and applied by sleep scientists worldwide.
Thirty-three participants with documented sleep issues took part. Each used a pillow with a DREAM+™-infused cover placed inside a regular pillowcase for the duration of the study. Researchers measured sleep quality across seven individual PSQI components before and after the 30-day period.
The results across six of those seven components were notable:
- Sleep efficiency showed a measured improvement of 64%
- Time to fall asleep improved by 46%
- Overall sleep quality scores improved by 44%
- Sleep duration improved by 41%
- Sleep disturbances decreased by 19%
- Daytime dysfunction decreased by 56%
The one component that showed no statistically significant change was use of sleep medication, which is consistent with the technology's positioning as a complement to, not a replacement for, existing sleep aids.
Taken together, the study reflected an overall improvement of more than 45% in the PSQI Global Score across participants. For buyers evaluating new product technology, that kind of structured, methodology-driven data is a meaningful differentiator and a credible story to bring to the retail floor.
What It Means for Your Product Line
When South Bay International brings a new technology to market, we think about it from the manufacturer and retailer perspective first. The questions that matter are: Does it add real value? Is it commercially viable? Can it be communicated clearly to the end consumer?
DREAM+™ checks every box.
Because the technology is embedded at the fabric level, integration into existing mattress and pillow constructions is straightforward. The DREAM+™ Pillow & Cover collection is available in a range of fabric applications, giving our partners design flexibility without sacrificing the technology benefit.
From a retail standpoint, the story is a product backed by a structured 30-day study, recognized with a German Innovation Award, and designed to support better sleep at the fabric level. In a category where differentiation is increasingly difficult to achieve, that is exactly the kind of substantiated story that supports a stronger average ticket and builds consumer confidence.
Why Las Vegas Market Is the Right Stage for This Debut
Las Vegas Market is where the bedding industry makes decisions. Buyers come looking for what's next, including the technology, the story, and the product that will give their lineup an edge in the second half of the year and into 2027 planning.
We chose this market to debut DREAM+™ because the foundation is solid. The study data is meaningful, the fabric collection is fully developed, and the commercial case is clear. We want buyers to see it, touch it, and hear the story firsthand.
"Our customers are looking for tangible, science-backed differentiation. They are looking for proof," said Edgar Carrasco, Director of Product Development at South Bay International. "DREAM+™ gives our partners exactly that — a technology that performs at the fabric level and gives the consumer a measurable reason to choose their product over the competition. We're proud to bring this to market and can't wait for buyers to see it in person in Las Vegas."
